Guest Reviewer For Flagler’s Senior Design Show

Recently I had the honor of serving as one of the guest reviewers for Flagler College’s Senior Design Portfolio Show, POLYPHONIC on April 24. I really enjoyed talking with the 21 bright-eyed Seniors about their portfolios and their goals after graduation. I was really impressed with much of the student work and the quality at which it was produced. Some of the stand out students were Aaron Bromirski, Crystal Jones, Jonathan Lawrence, Caitlin Robinson, and Jennifer Jones.
These students, and many others owe a lot to the hard work professor Randy Taylor put into the design program over the past 12 or so years. The students seemed to adore Randy and since it was his last year teaching, they wanted to honor him with a special gift during the show. The students knew about Randy’s love for the water/action sports and made him a custom longboard skateboard signed by all 21 designers and gave him his very own kite for learning how to kiteboard. How cool is that!
The show had a great attendance with probably well over 350 people to support the designers and see their end of the year video, POLYPHONIC which integrated each of the students work and personalities into it. Throughout the night, I got to talk with many of the students who attended my AIGA talk in November 2007. I also got to spend a lot of time with Mike Fretto of the wonderful company Rosa Loves. It was great catching up and talking about future collaborative possibilities.
Hopefully there will be more opportunities like this to give back to the design community. Thanks for the invite Randy! Have fun on your next adventure!
