Influencing the Influencers

Last week I had the privilege of spending some time with a pretty famous guy named Rick Warren who authored the best-selling book in the world other than the bible. Rick has been a fan of the magazine RELEVANT that I’ve worked on over the past few years and stopped through the office while he was in town to chat with the staff.

Being that Rick wrote the best-selling book in the world, it gave him a lot of monetary resources and fame he could have kept for himself. I found him to be a really down to earth guy who is leveraging all that money and influence to make a difference in this world. He’s the only guy I know of that gives more than 90% of his income away, only to live on the left over 10%. He’s personally funded many global peace projects and training initiatives and currently meets with a range of influential leaders around the world like Bono, CEOs, business owners, and Presidents to see how he can help train and partner with others to help solve the major problems facing the world like poverty, disease, illiteracy and more.

I was glad to meet Rick and get inspired by his passion for life and the loose grasp he has on the stuff around him, ready to give it away at a moments notice. That’s a guy who is changing things.
