RE:SOLUTIONS RECAP

Today I was honored to be one of the guest speakers at the AIGA Re:Solutions event at the Orlando Museum of Art along with Debbie Millman, Dan Rubin, Wright Massey, and Orlando photographer John Deeb.
It was great to hear about Debbie’s design resolutions which included research, honesty and preparation.
Wright shared some of his extensive experience building brands over the years from the Disney stores, Starbucks and his own firm, Brand Architecture.
Dan Rubin shared with the audience how they don’t have to be scared to design for the web and his love for typography (insider note: it really wasn’t Gotham you were showing … It was Myriad).
I was able to show part of my art and design journey designing magazines, books, apparel and the explorations of KENEDIK and Cameraluv. I was hopefully able to pass on my enthusiasm for what I get to do everyday, I’m very blessed.
John Deeb shared some intimate details about his break into the photography business. He also did a demo explaining lenses and the different photographic terms so that designers could have more competency in their interactions with photographers.
Thanks to all those who attended. Your attentiveness and willingness to laugh at our jokes made it a pretty great way to spend a Saturday. Thanks to the Orlando AIGA board (Sarah, Jeff, Kim, Bern, Daisy, Kelly, Zuley, Cliff and more) for putting on the event. I also want to thank the Senior design crew from Ringling who made the drive up to O-town to support one of their own.

you had a great presentation jeremy, and had an incredibly impressive body of work to share. i liked how you included random video clips and different stuff to keep it fun. but i especially appreciated how you explained the spiritual foundations of what Relevant is about, and the different ways the magazine moves past just “bible stories” and challenges people to take action. way to go!
Thanks Mark … Glad you enjoyed it!
